Tim Flynn

Tim Flynn meets your system where it is. As a Senior Developer at Beezwax, he starts in the trenches of the systems his clients actually depend on, learning how they run before he proposes anything. He doesn't walk in and rebuild for its own sake. Instead, he finds the meaningful changes that genuinely help, guided by a clear vision of interoperability: how the parts of a system connect, why that matters to the people doing the work, and how to get the most return from every hour of effort. Versatility is his strong suit. His career began in the late 1990s as the first hire of Julian Nadel, now Beezwax President, at a small consulting firm working out of an apartment. He has moved fluidly across FileMaker consulting, web and mobile development, and just about everything else a real project needs ever since.

Tim's BA from UC Santa Cruz combined politics, economics, and sociology, an interdisciplinary foundation that still shapes how he sees software today. He tends to view a program not as isolated code but as one piece of a larger system of people, incentives, and workflows. That perspective is why he cares less about the technology in the abstract and more about whether it makes a group of people more effective. First and foremost, Tim is interested in working with people, helping teams do their best work, and building durable, long-lasting solutions that truly serve the users they were made for.

That instinct shows up in the technical work too. Tim consulted on the first XML generator connecting FileMaker to the Web, an award-winning innovation in its day. Over the years, his clients have ranged from Sundance Films and Sony Games to the UC Regents, alongside many small companies and non-profits.

Tim now lives in Oregon, where he enjoys the outdoors and the slower rhythms of rural life. Lately he has been blogging, coaching, and writing poetry. He has also given his time to Hospice work and community arts, and he taught for the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. He holds an MA in Transformative Arts from JFK University, a fitting credential for someone whose work has always been about helping people and systems change for the better.
